Introductions – A Poem

If I could offer you only
this face, that time and grace
have both been kind to, and

if you would be satisfied
with only these, then I would
despise you.

I want our screams competing
through the dark until at daybreak
they make harmony,
two voices in one song.

When I show you my demons
I don’t want to be bothered
with introductions. It’s best
that you already know them.
